It is with a very heavy heart that we must report that we’re canceling the Sensation Tasting and Sexy Afterparty scheduled for 9/29.

It came to our attention a few weeks ago that the space where we had put down a significant deposit was being run and operated by people who had been leaders of the Gratitude Migration event which filed for bankruptcy in January of this year. A wide range of reports came about lawsuits and failure to pay staff, at least one report came from a performer who experienced substantial harm at the event and has reported that the organizers of that event, who were connected to our event space, have been in denial of the harm they caused and refused to respond to calls or e-mail.

While we have been assured by the partnership who runs the space that this individual has been removed and eliminated from event management, we believe that his continued involvement with other aspects of the property means that he would profit from our event, and at a substantial loss to ourselves we have determined that ethically it is the right thing to do, to cancel the event, take the loss, and not give them any more money. We take 100% responsibility for failing to thoroughly vet the operators of the space and apologize to the volunteers and staff and guests who planned to come and who had purchased tickets already. All sales will be 100% refunded and anyone who purchased tickets will be offered a comp-ticket, and no charge, to our next scheduled Tasting event.

This was a difficult and costly decision, we are sorry that it took till this late date to report, but we had maintained hopes that the problematic individual was no longer involved and our concerns turned out to be based in enough fact that we could not feel good about moving forward. Even if he isn’t directly involved, he is close enough to the event management team that we’d rather take the loss and not support this space.  We promise to do better next time and let you know when we find a space and plan our next event.
