Description:

This hands-on class introduces Parker RopeBoi’s approach to self-suspension. Whether you are new to self-suspension or already have a bit of self-suspension experience, this class will provide you with building blocks and widely applicable skills, techniques, and tips from an expert self-suspension instructor.

Class will address:

  • self-suspension risks, risk-reduction and safety measures
  • similarities and differences in approaches between self-suspension and partner suspension
  • skill-building exercises for practicing key self-suspension skills, such as one-handed tying, tying without seeing, using your toes, using your core, and using your face
  • planning and setting up for a self-suspension
  • getting into the air
  • hanging out in suspension, checking with one’s body
  • coming down safely
  • specific up-line ties, techniques, and line management for self-suspension
  • proprioception, body awareness, and physical control in self-suspension will be introduced

Prerequisites: Facility with rope-handling techniques, controlling tension, attaching a new rope, square knot, half-hitch, single-column ties (e.g. Somerville Bowline, etc.), a chest harness (any type)
